Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

A novel PrP partner HS-1 associated protein X-1 (HAX-1) protected the cultured cells against the challenge of H?O?.
Prion protein (PrP) is a ubiquitous conserved glycoprotein predominantly expressed in neurons of the central nervous system (CNS). To elucidate on its cellular function, we performed a yeast two-hybrid screen within an adult human brain cDNA library for potential PrP-binding molecules. A novel protein, HS-1 associated protein X-1 (HAX-1), was identified to be able to bind with PrP strongly. The ... [more]
