Structure of the mitochondrial import gate reveals distinct preprotein paths.
The translocase of the outer mitochondrial membrane (TOM) is the main entry gate for proteins1-4. Here we use cryo-electron microscopy to report the structure of the yeast TOM core complex5-9 at 3.8-A resolution. The structure reveals the high-resolution architecture of the translocator consisting of two Tom40 ?-barrel channels and ?-helical transmembrane subunits, providing insight into critical features that are conserved in ... TOM22 TOM40 | PCA PCA A Protein-Fragment Complementation Assay (PCA) is a protein-protein interaction assay in which a bait protein is expressed as fusion to one of the either N- or C- terminal peptide fragments of a reporter protein and prey protein is expressed as fusion to the complementary N- or C- terminal fragment of the same reporter protein. Interaction of bait and prey proteins bring together complementary fragments, which can then fold into an active reporter, e.g. the split-ubiquitin assay. | High | - | BioGRID | 433122 | |
