Melanoma antigen genes (MAGEs) are emerging as important oncogenic drivers that are normally restricted to expression in male germ cells but are aberrantly expressed in cancers and promote tumorigenesis. Mechanistically, MAGEs function as substrate specifying subunits of E3 ubiquitin ligases.
