RPL11A

ribosomal 60S subunit protein L11A, rp39A, YL22, L5, L16B, L11A, L000004453, YPR102C
Ribosomal 60S subunit protein L11A; expressed at twice the level of Rpl11Bp; involved in ribosomal assembly; depletion causes degradation of 60S proteins and RNA; homologous to mammalian ribosomal protein L11 and bacterial L5; RPL11A has a paralog, RPL11B, that arose from the whole genome duplication

Affinity Capture-Western

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Coupling of 5S RNP rotation with maturation of functional centers during large ribosomal subunit assembly.

Micic J, Li Y, Wu S, Wilson D, Tutuncuoglu B, Gao N, Woolford JL

The protein composition and structure of assembling 60S ribosomal subunits undergo numerous changes as pre-ribosomes transition from the nucleolus to the nucleoplasm. This includes stable anchoring of the Rpf2 subcomplex containing 5S rRNA, rpL5, rpL11, Rpf2 and Rrs1, which initially docks onto the flexible domain V of rRNA at earlier stages of assembly. In this work, we tested the function ... [more]

Mutations/deletions in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, but when combined in the same cell results in a more severe fitness defect or lethality under a given condition. This term is reserved for high or low throughput studies with scores.
