Biochemical Activity (Methylation)

An interaction is inferred from the biochemical effect of one protein upon another, for example, GTP-GDP exchange activity or phosphorylation of a substrate by a kinase. The bait protein executes the activity on the substrate hit protein. A Modification value is recorded for interactions of this type with the possible values Phosphorylation, Ubiquitination, Sumoylation, Dephosphorylation, Methylation, Prenylation, Acetylation, Deubiquitination, Proteolytic Processing, Glucosylation, Nedd(Rub1)ylation, Deacetylation, No Modification, Demethylation.

The heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNP) associate with pre-mRNA in the nucleus and play an important role in RNA processing and splice site selection. In addition, hnRNP A proteins function in the export of mRNA to the cytoplasm. Although the hnRNP A proteins are predominantly nuclear, hnRNP A1 shuttles rapidly between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. HnRNP A2, whose cytoplasmic overexpression ... [more]
