RLI1

YDR091C
Essential Fe-S protein; required for ribosome biogenesis, translation initiation/termination; facilitates binding of multifactor complex (MFC) of initiation factors to small ribosomal subunit; Dom34-Hbs1 complex and Rli1p work in dissociating inactive ribosomes, thereby facilitating translation restart; forms complex with Lto1p and Yae1p; dependency on ROS-labile FeS clusters, activity in nuclear ribosomal-subunit export impaired by mild oxidative stress
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)

Affinity Capture-Western

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Translation termination depends on the sequential ribosomal entry of eRF1 and eRF3.

Beissel C, Neumann B, Uhse S, Hampe I, Karki P, Krebber H

Translation termination requires eRF1 and eRF3 for polypeptide- and tRNA-release on stop codons. Additionally, Dbp5/DDX19 and Rli1/ABCE1 are required; however, their function in this process is currently unknown. Using a combination of in vivo and in vitro experiments, we show that they regulate a stepwise assembly of the termination complex. Rli1 and eRF3-GDP associate with the ribosome first. Subsequently, Dbp5-ATP ... [more]
