Co-crystal Structure
Interaction directly demonstrated at the atomic level by X-ray crystallography. Also used for NMR or Electron Microscopy (EM) structures. If there is no obvious bait-hit directionality to the interaction involving 3 or more proteins, then the co-crystallized proteins should be listed as a complex.

A third specificity-determining site in mu 2 adaptin for sequences upstream of Yxx phi sorting motifs.
Internalization signals of the Yxx phi type (phi = bulky hydrophobic side chain) interact with the mu 2 chain of AP-2 adaptors. Internalization activity is intolerant of non-conservative substitution of either the tyrosine or the phi side chains, which bind to hydrophobic pockets in mu 2 adaptin in a conformation described as 'a two pinned plug into a socket'.
