Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Localization of utrophin and aciculin at sites of cell-matrix and cell-cell adhesion in cultured cells.
Aciculin is a phosphoglucomutase-related cytoskeletal protein associated with dystrophin and/or utrophin in various tissues and cell types. Comparison of expression patterns for aciculin, dystrophin, and utrophin in cultured cells demonstrated that aciculin is coexpressed with utrophin, but not with dystrophin, in cultures of A7r5 smooth muscle cells and REF52 fibroblasts. Some other nonmuscle cells synthesized only trace levels of or ... [more]
