Ubiquitin-specific protease 53 promotes osteogenic differentiation of human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells.

Baek D, Park KH, Lee KM, Jung S, Joung S, Kim J, Lee JW

The ubiquitin protease pathway plays important role in human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell (hBMSC) differentiation, including osteogenesis. However, the function of deubiquitinating enzymes in osteogenic differentiation of hBMSCs remains poorly understood. In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of ubiquitin-specific protease 53 (USP53) in the osteogenic differentiation of hBMSCs. Based on re-analysis of the Gene Expression Omnibus ... [more]

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.
