Affinity Capture-Western

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Physical and functional cooperation of neural cell adhesion molecule and ?1-integrin in neurite outgrowth induction.

Petridis AK, Nikolopoulos SN, El-Maarouf A

Neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM) and ?1-integrin are both involved in cell differentiation, with changes in the expression of these two molecules correlating with changes in the malignancy of tumor cells. There is a known functional correlation between NCAM and ?1-integrin in adhesion and also neurite outgrowth in tumor cells. In the present study, we used immunostaining and immunoprecipitation studies ... [more]
