CDC2, HPR6, TEX1, DNA-directed DNA polymerase delta POL3, L000000242, YDL102W
Catalytic subunit of DNA polymerase delta; required for chromosomal DNA replication during mitosis and meiosis, intragenic recombination, repair of double strand DNA breaks, and DNA replication during nucleotide excision repair (NER)
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)

L000001615, YOR346W
Deoxycytidyl transferase; involved in repair of abasic sites and adducted guanines in damaged DNA by translesion synthesis (TLS); forms a complex with the subunits of DNA polymerase zeta, Rev3p and Rev7p; relocalizes from nucleus to cytoplasm upon DNA replication stress

Phenotypic Suppression

A genetic interaction is inferred when mutation or over expression of one gene results in suppression of any phenotype (other than lethality/growth defect) associated with mutation or over expression of another gene.

Publication

Mutagenic and recombinagenic responses to defective DNA polymerase delta are facilitated by the Rev1 protein in pol3-t mutants of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Defective DNA replication can result in substantial increases in the level of genome instability. In the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the pol3-t allele confers a defect in the catalytic subunit of replicative DNA polymerase delta that results in increased rates of mutagenesis, recombination, and chromosome loss, perhaps by increasing the rate of replicative polymerase failure. The translesion polymerases Pol eta, Pol ... [more]
