Biochemical Activity (Ubiquitination)
An interaction is inferred from the biochemical effect of one protein upon another, for example, GTP-GDP exchange activity or phosphorylation of a substrate by a kinase. The bait protein executes the activity on the substrate hit protein. A Modification value is recorded for interactions of this type with the possible values Phosphorylation, Ubiquitination, Sumoylation, Dephosphorylation, Methylation, Prenylation, Acetylation, Deubiquitination, Proteolytic Processing, Glucosylation, Nedd(Rub1)ylation, Deacetylation, No Modification, Demethylation.

Antibody toolkit reveals N-terminally ubiquitinated substrates of UBE2W.
The ubiquitin conjugating enzyme UBE2W catalyzes non-canonical ubiquitination on the N-termini of proteins, although its substrate repertoire remains unclear. To identify endogenous N-terminally-ubiquitinated substrates, we discover four monoclonal antibodies that selectively recognize tryptic peptides with an N-terminal diglycine remnant, corresponding to sites of N-terminal ubiquitination. Importantly, these antibodies do not recognize isopeptide-linked diglycine (ubiquitin) modifications on lysine. We solve the ... [more]
