Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

The antiviral action of the RIG-I induced pathway of apoptosis (RIPA) is enhanced by its ability to degrade Otulin, which deubiquitinates IRF3.
Mammalian innate immune response to virus infection is meditated by many cell-intrinsic pathways. RNA viruses, such as Sendai virus, which replicate in the cytoplasm, trigger the RIG-I-like receptor pathway, which activates the transcription factor, IRF3. Activated IRF3 translocates to the nucleus and induces transcription of the genes which encode interferons, the major antiviral cytokines. Interestingly, IRF3 activates another interferon-independent antiviral ... [more]
