Reduced cytosolic protein synthesis suppresses mitochondrial degeneration.
Mitochondrial function degenerates with ageing and in ageing-related neuromuscular degenerative diseases, causing physiological decline of the cell. Factors that can delay the degenerative process are actively sought after.
