Synthetic Growth Defect
A genetic interaction is inferred when mutations in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, result in a significant growth defect under a given condition when combined in the same cell.

Interplay between the Smc5/6 complex and the Mph1 helicase in recombinational repair.
The evolutionarily conserved Smc5/6 complex is implicated in recombinational repair, but its function in this process has been elusive. Here we report that the budding yeast Smc5/6 complex directly binds to the DNA helicase Mph1. Mph1 and its helicase activity define a replication-associated recombination subpathway. We show that this pathway is toxic when the Smc5/6 complex is defective, because mph1Delta ... [more]

SMC6 MMS21 | Affinity Capture-Western Affinity Capture-Western An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins. | Low | - | BioGRID | 1033669 | |
