Affinity Capture-Western

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Karyopherin Subunit Alpha 1 Enhances the Malignant Behaviors of Colon Cancer Cells via Promoting Nuclear Factor-?B p65 Nuclear Translocation.

Zhao L, Wu D, Qu Q, Li Z, Yin H

Aberrant nuclear factor-?B p65 (NF-?B p65) nuclear import commonly occurs in multiple cancers, including colon cancer. According to BioGRID, we noted that Karyopherin subunit alpha 1 (KPNA1), an important molecular transporter between the nucleus and the cytoplasm, may interact with NF-?B p65. KPNA1 itself is highly expressed in colon adenocarcinoma samples (N?=?286) based on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. ... [more]
