Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

MRG Proteins Are Shared by Multiple Protein Complexes With Distinct Functions.
MRG15/MORF4L1 is a highly conserved protein in eukaryotes that contains a chromodomain (CHD) recognizing methylation of lysine 36 on histone H3 (H3K36me3) in chromatin. Intriguingly, it has been reported in the literature to interact with several different factors involved in chromatin modifications, gene regulation, alternative mRNA splicing, and DNA repair by homologous recombination. To get a complete and reliable picture ... [more]
