Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Association of the mSin3A-histone deacetylase 1/2 corepressor complex with the mouse steroidogenic acute regulatory protein gene.
Several factors have been identified in the transcriptional repression of the steroidogenic acute regulatory protein (StAR) gene promoter; yet, no associating corepressor complexes have been characterized for the mouse promoter in MA-10 mouse Leydig tumor cells. We now report that Sp3, CAGA element binding proteins, and a corepressor complex consisting of mSin3A, histone deacetylase (HDAC)1, and HDAC2 associates with a ... [more]
