YPT32
Rab family GTPase YPT32, L000002897, YGL210W
Rab family GTPase involved in the exocytic pathway; mediates intra-Golgi traffic or the budding of post-Golgi vesicles from the trans-Golgi; protein abundance increases in response to DNA replication stress; YPT32 has a paralog, YPT31, that arose from the whole genome duplication

BMH2
SCD3, 14-3-3 family protein BMH2, L000000186, YDR099W
14-3-3 protein, minor isoform; controls proteome at post-transcriptional level, binds proteins and DNA, involved in regulation of many processes including exocytosis, vesicle transport, Ras/MAPK signaling, and rapamycin-sensitive signaling; protein increases in abundance and relative distribution to the nucleus increases upon DNA replication stress; BMH2 has a paralog, BMH1, that arose from the whole genome duplication

Dosage Growth Defect
A genetic interaction is inferred when over expression or increased dosage of one gene causes a growth defect in a strain that is mutated or deleted for another gene.

Nucleocytoplasmic shuttling of the Golgi phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase Pik1 is regulated by 14-3-3 proteins and coordinates Golgi function with cell growth.
The yeast phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase Pik1p is essential for proliferation, and it controls Golgi homeostasis and transport of newly synthesized proteins from this compartment. At the Golgi, phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate recruits multiple cytosolic effectors involved in formation of post-Golgi transport vesicles. A second pool of catalytically active Pik1p localizes to the nucleus. The physiological significance and regulation of this dual localization of ... [more]
