Ubiquitin ligase Hrd1 enhances the degradation and suppresses the toxicity of polyglutamine-expanded huntingtin.
E3 ubiquitin ligases catalyze the conjugation of ubiquitin onto proteins, which acts as a signal for targeting proteins for degradation by the proteasome.
