Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

DDX60, a DExD/H box helicase, is a novel antiviral factor promoting RIG-I-like receptor-mediated signaling.
The cytoplasmic viral RNA sensors RIG-I and MDA5 are important for the production of type I interferon and other inflammatory cytokines. DDX60 is an uncharacterized DExD/H box RNA helicase similar to S. cerevisiae Ski2, a cofactor of RNA exosome, a protein complex required for the integrity of cytoplasmic RNA. The expression of DDX60 increases after viral infection, and the protein ... [more]
