Affinity Capture-Western

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Upregulation of δ-catenin is associated with poor prognosis and enhances transcriptional activity through Kaiso in non-small-cell lung cancer.

Dai SD, Wang Y, Zhang JY, Zhang D, Zhang PX, Jiang GY, Han Y, Zhang S, Cui QZ, Wang EH

δ-Catenin is the only member of the p120 catenin (p120ctn) subfamily that its primary expression is restricted to the brain. Since δ-catenin is upregulated in human lung cancer, the effects of δ-catenin overexpression in lung cancer still need to be clarified. Immunohistochemistry was performed to investigate the expression of δ-catenin and Kaiso, a δ-catenin-binding transcription factor, in 151 lung cancer ... [more]
