Regulated endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation of a polytopic protein: p97 recruits proteasomes to Insig-1 before extraction from membranes.
Polytopic membrane proteins subjected to endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-associated degradation are extracted from membranes and targeted to proteasomes for destruction.
