SNC2

SNAP receptor SNC2, L000001943, YOR327C
Vesicle membrane receptor protein (v-SNARE); involved in the fusion between Golgi-derived secretory vesicles with the plasma membrane; Snc2p levels regulated by Vps45p; member of the synaptobrevin/VAMP family of R-type v-SNARE proteins; SNC2 has a paralog, SNC1, that arose from the whole genome duplication

Affinity Capture-Western

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Sec9 is a SNAP-25-like component of a yeast SNARE complex that may be the effector of Sec4 function in exocytosis.

Brennwald P, Kearns B, Champion K, Keraenen S, Bankaitis V, Novick P

To identify potential Sec4 effectors, we isolated high copy suppressors of a Sec4 effector domain mutant. The most potent of these was found to be SEC9, a gene required for post-Golgi transport. The sole essential domain of Sec9 has significant sequence similarity to the neuronal protein SNAP-25, a component of the SNARE complex, that is implicated in vesicle targeting and ... [more]
