Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Curcumin differentially regulates endoplasmic reticulum stress through transcriptional corepressor SMILE (small heterodimer partner-interacting leucine zipper protein)-mediated inhibition of CREBH (cAMP responsive element-binding protein H).
Curcumin (diferuloylmethane), a major active component of turmeric (Curcuma longa), is a natural polyphenolic compound. Herein the effect of curcumin on endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress responsive gene expression was investigated. We report that curcumin induces transcriptional corepressor small heterodimer partner-interacting leucine zipper protein (SMILE) gene expression through liver kinase B1 (LKB1)/adenosine monophosphate-activated kinase (AMPK) signaling pathway and represses ER stress-responsive ...
