DNA polymerase eta (Pol eta) is a member of the mammalian Y family polymerases and performs error-free translesion synthesis across UV-damaged DNA. For this function, Pol eta accumulates in nuclear foci at replication stalling sites via its interaction with monoubiquitinated PCNA.
