Specific in vivo binding of activator of G protein signalling 1 to the Gbeta1 subunit.

Hiskens R, Vatish M, Hill C, Davey J, Ladds G

Activator of G protein signalling 1 (AGS1) is a Ras-like protein that affects signalling through heterotrimeric G proteins. Previous in vitro studies suggest that AGS1 can bind to G(alpha)-GDP subunits and promote nucleotide exchange, leading to activation of intracellular signalling pathways. This model is consistent with in vivo evidence demonstrating that AGS1 activates both G(alpha)- and G(betagamma)-dependent pathways in the ... [more]

Affinity Capture-Western

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.
