Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Presenilin 2 regulates the systolic function of heart by modulating Ca2+ signaling.
Genetic studies of families with familial Alzheimer's disease have implicated presenilin 2 (PS2) in the pathogenesis of this disease. PS2 is ubiquitously expressed in various tissues including hearts. In this study, we examined cardiac phenotypes of PS2 knockout (PS2KO) mice to elucidate a role of PS2 in hearts. PS2KO mice developed normally with no evidence of cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis. ... [more]
