Affinity Capture-Western

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

The major laminin receptor of mouse embryonic stem cells is a novel isoform of the alpha 6 beta 1 integrin.

Cooper HM, Tamura RN, Quaranta V

Laminin is the first extracellular matrix protein expressed in the developing mouse embryo. It is known to influence morphogenesis and affect cell migration and polarization. Several laminin receptors are included in the integrin family of extracellular matrix receptors. Ligand binding by integrin heterodimers results in signal transduction events controlling cell motility. We report that the major laminin receptor on murine ... [more]
