Assembly of AUF1 with eIF4G-poly(A) binding protein complex suggests a translation function in AU-rich mRNA decay.
An AU-rich element (ARE) located in the 3'-untranslated region of many short-lived mRNAs functions as an instability determinant for these transcripts. AUF1/hnRNP D, an ARE-binding protein family consisting of four isoforms, promotes rapid decay of ARE-mRNAs. The mechanism by which AUF1 promotes rapid decay of ARE-mRNA is unclear. AUF1 has been shown to form an RNase-resistant complex in cells with ... [more]

HNRNPD PABPC1 | Affinity Capture-Western Affinity Capture-Western An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins. | Low | - | BioGRID | 824298 | |
