Heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) selectively regulates the stability of KDM4B/JMJD2B histone demethylase.

Ipenberg I, Guttmann-Raviv N, Khoury HP, Kupershmit I, Ayoub N

The family of KDM4A-D histone demethylases selectively demethylates H3K9 and H3K36, and is implicated in key cellular processes including DNA damage response, transcription, cell-cycle regulation, cellular differentiation, senescence and carcinogenesis. Various human cancers exhibit elevated protein levels of KDM4A-D members and their depletion impairs tumor formation, suggesting that their enhanced activity promotes carcinogenesis. However, the mechanisms regulating the KDM4 protein ... [more]

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.
