Amyloid beta-peptide (Abeta), which plays a central role in Alzheimer's disease, is generated by presenilin-dependent gamma-secretase cleavage of beta-amyloid precursor protein (betaAPP). We report that the presenilins (PS1 and PS2) also regulate Abeta degradation.
