Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Angiotensin II induces renal plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 and cyclooxygenase-2 expression post-transcriptionally via activation of the mRNA-stabilizing factor human-antigen R.
Angiotensin (Ang) II-induced fibrosis of the kidney is characterized by the enhanced expression of profibrotic and proinflammatory genes, including the serine protease inhibitor plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). In addition to transcriptional regulation, both genes are subject to post-transcriptional control by AU-rich destabilizing elements that reside within the 3' untranslated region of the mRNA. We demonstrated that the ... [more]
