Affinity Capture-Western

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Adenosine Monophosphate-Activated Protein Kinase-α2 Deficiency Promotes Vascular Smooth Muscle Cell Migration via S-Phase Kinase-Associated Protein 2 Upregulation and E-Cadherin Downregulation.

Song P, Zhou Y, Coughlan KA, Dai X, Xu H, Viollet B, Zou MH

Abnormal proliferation and migration of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) are critical events in the progression of several vasculopathologies. Adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) has been shown to play a pivotal role in cellular proliferation and migration. However, the roles of AMPK in VSMC migration and its underlying molecular mechanisms remain elusive.VSMC migration and the neointima formation were studied in ... [more]
