Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Regulation of Plant Immunity through Ubiquitin-mediated Modulation of Ca(2+) -Calmodulin-AtSR1/CAMTA3 Signaling.
Transient changes in intracellular Ca(2+) concentration have been documented as essential signals to activate plant immunity. It is also documented that Ca(2+) signals can suppress salicylic acid-mediated plant defense through AtSR1/CAMTA3, a member of the Ca(2+) /calmodulin-regulated transcription factor family conserved in multicellular eukaryotes. How plants overcome this negative regulation during a stage of intracellular Ca(2+) surge to mount an ... [more]
