Biochemical Activity (Deubiquitination)

An interaction is inferred from the biochemical effect of one protein upon another, for example, GTP-GDP exchange activity or phosphorylation of a substrate by a kinase. The bait protein executes the activity on the substrate hit protein. A Modification value is recorded for interactions of this type with the possible values Phosphorylation, Ubiquitination, Sumoylation, Dephosphorylation, Methylation, Prenylation, Acetylation, Deubiquitination, Proteolytic Processing, Glucosylation, Nedd(Rub1)ylation, Deacetylation, No Modification, Demethylation.

Ubiquitin-specific protease 19 regulates the stability of the E3 ubiquitin ligase MARCH6.

Nakamura N, Harada K, Kato M, Hirose S

Ubiquitin-specific protease (USP)19 is a recently identified deubiquitinating enzyme (DUB) having multiple splice variants and cellular functions. One variant encodes an endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-anchored DUB that rescues misfolded transmembrane proteins from ER-associated degradation (ERAD), but the underlying mechanism remains to be elucidated. Here, we show that USP19 interacts with the ERAD-associated E3 ubiquitin ligase MARCH6. Overexpression of USP19 delayed the ... [more]
