Biochemical Activity (Sumoylation)

An interaction is inferred from the biochemical effect of one protein upon another, for example, GTP-GDP exchange activity or phosphorylation of a substrate by a kinase. The bait protein executes the activity on the substrate hit protein. A Modification value is recorded for interactions of this type with the possible values Phosphorylation, Ubiquitination, Sumoylation, Dephosphorylation, Methylation, Prenylation, Acetylation, Deubiquitination, Proteolytic Processing, Glucosylation, Nedd(Rub1)ylation, Deacetylation, No Modification, Demethylation.

The SUMO family in vertebrates includes at least three distinct proteins (SUMO-1, -2, and -3) that are added as post-translational modifications to target proteins. A considerable number of SUMO-1 target proteins have been identified, but little is known about SUMO-2. A stable HeLa cell line expressing His6-tagged SUMO-2 was established and used to label and purify novel endogenous SUMO-2 target ... [more]
