Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Opposing effects of Ndel1 and alpha1 or alpha2 on cytoplasmic dynein through competitive binding to Lis1.
Lis1 is an essential protein whose insufficiency causes aberrant neuronal positioning during neocortical development. It is believed to regulate both cytoplasmic dynein, a microtubule minus-end-directed motor, through direct interaction, and platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase (PAF-AH) Ib by complexing with the catalytic subunits alpha1 and alpha2. Although alpha1 and alpha2 are highly expressed in brain, their deficiencies fail to cause brain abnormality. ... [more]
