Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Monocyte Chemotactic Protein-induced Protein 1 and 4 Form a Complex but Act Independently in Regulation of Interleukin-6 mRNA Degradation.
It was recently demonstrated that MCPIP1 is a critical factor that controls inflammation and immune homeostasis; however, the relationship between MCPIP1 and other members of this protein family is largely unknown. Here, we report that MCPIP1 interacts with MCPIP4 to form a protein complex, but acts independently in the regulation of IL-6 mRNA degradation. In an effort to identify MCPIP1-interacting ... [more]
