RNT1

L000002844, YMR239C
Nuclear dsRNA-specific ribonuclease (RNase III); involved in rDNA transcription, rRNA processing and U2 snRNA 3' end formation by cleavage of a stem-loop structure at the 3' end of U2 snRNA; involved in polyadenylation-independent transcription termination; involved in the cell wall stress response, regulating the degradation of cell wall integrity and morphogenesis checkpoint genes
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)

PKC1

CLY15, CLY5, CLY7, HPO2, STT1, protein kinase C, L000001446, L000000362, S000029091, YBL105C
Protein serine/threonine kinase; essential for cell wall remodeling during growth; localized to sites of polarized growth and the mother-daughter bud neck; homolog of the alpha, beta, and gamma isoforms of mammalian protein kinase C (PKC)
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)

Negative Genetic

Mutations/deletions in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, but when combined in the same cell results in a more severe fitness defect or lethality under a given condition. This term is reserved for high or low throughput studies with scores.

We generated a global genetic interaction network for Saccharomyces cerevisiae, constructing more than 23 million double mutants, identifying about 550,000 negative and about 350,000 positive genetic interactions. This comprehensive network maps genetic interactions for essential gene pairs, highlighting essential genes as densely connected hubs. Genetic interaction profiles enabled assembly of a hierarchical model of cell function, including modules corresponding to ... [more]
