NBP2

L000002861, YDR162C
Protein involved in the HOG (high osmolarity glycerol) pathway; negatively regulates Hog1p by recruitment of phosphatase Ptc1p the Pbs2p-Hog1p complex; interacts with Bck1p and down regulates the cell wall integrity pathway; found in the nucleus and cytoplasm, contains an SH3 domain and a Ptc1p binding domain (PBM)
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)
PREY

KIN4

KIN3, KIN31, putative serine/threonine protein kinase KIN4, L000000904, YOR233W
Serine/threonine protein kinase; inhibits the mitotic exit network (MEN) when the spindle position checkpoint is activated; localized asymmetrically to mother cell cortex, spindle pole body and bud neck; KIN4 has a paralog, FRK1, that arose from the whole genome duplication

Negative Genetic

Mutations/deletions in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, but when combined in the same cell results in a more severe fitness defect or lethality under a given condition. This term is reserved for high or low throughput studies with scores.

We generated a global genetic interaction network for Saccharomyces cerevisiae, constructing more than 23 million double mutants, identifying about 550,000 negative and about 350,000 positive genetic interactions. This comprehensive network maps genetic interactions for essential gene pairs, highlighting essential genes as densely connected hubs. Genetic interaction profiles enabled assembly of a hierarchical model of cell function, including modules corresponding to ... [more]
