INP53

SJL3, SOP2, phosphatidylinositol-3-/phosphoinositide 5-phosphatase INP53, L000003984, YOR109W
Polyphosphatidylinositol phosphatase; dephosphorylates multiple phosphatidylinositol phosphates; involved in trans Golgi network-to-early endosome pathway; hyperosmotic stress causes translocation to actin patches; contains Sac1 and 5-ptase domains; INP53 has a paralog, INP52, that arose from the whole genome duplication
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)

VPS13

SOI1, VPT2, membrane morphogenesis protein VPS13, L000003510, L000002967, YLL040C
Protein involved in prospore membrane morphogenesis; heterooligomeric or homooligomeric complex; peripherally associated with membranes; involved in sporulation, vacuolar protein sorting, prospore membrane formation during sporulatoin, and protein-Golgi retention; homologous to human CHAC and COH1 which are involved in chorea acanthocytosis and Cohen syndrome, respectively
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S288c)

Negative Genetic

Mutations/deletions in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, but when combined in the same cell results in a more severe fitness defect or lethality under a given condition. This term is reserved for high or low throughput studies with scores.

We generated a global genetic interaction network for Saccharomyces cerevisiae, constructing more than 23 million double mutants, identifying about 550,000 negative and about 350,000 positive genetic interactions. This comprehensive network maps genetic interactions for essential gene pairs, highlighting essential genes as densely connected hubs. Genetic interaction profiles enabled assembly of a hierarchical model of cell function, including modules corresponding to ... [more]
