Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

The low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein LRP is regulated by membrane type-1 matrix metalloproteinase (MT1-MMP) proteolysis in malignant cells.
We demonstrate that the presentation of LRP and the subsequent uptake of its ligands by malignant cells are both strongly regulated by MT1-MMP. Because LRP is essential for the clearance of multiple ligands, these findings have important implications for many pathophysiological processes including the pericellular proteolysis in neoplastic cells as well as the fate of the soluble matrix-degrading proteases such ...
