Biochemical Activity (Phosphorylation)
An interaction is inferred from the biochemical effect of one protein upon another, for example, GTP-GDP exchange activity or phosphorylation of a substrate by a kinase. The bait protein executes the activity on the substrate hit protein. A Modification value is recorded for interactions of this type with the possible values Phosphorylation, Ubiquitination, Sumoylation, Dephosphorylation, Methylation, Prenylation, Acetylation, Deubiquitination, Proteolytic Processing, Glucosylation, Nedd(Rub1)ylation, Deacetylation, No Modification, Demethylation.

The B cell surface protein CD72 recruits the tyrosine phosphatase SHP-1 upon tyrosine phosphorylation.
Activation signals of lymphocytes are negatively regulated by the membrane molecules carrying the immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibition motif (ITIM). Upon tyrosine phosphorylation, ITIMs recruit SH2-containing phosphatases such as SHP-1, resulting in down-modulation of cell activation. We showed that the cytoplasmic domain of the CD72 molecule carries an ITIM and is associated in vitro with SHP-1 upon tyrosine phosphorylation. Moreover, cross-linking of ... [more]
