Biochemical Activity (Phosphorylation)

An interaction is inferred from the biochemical effect of one protein upon another, for example, GTP-GDP exchange activity or phosphorylation of a substrate by a kinase. The bait protein executes the activity on the substrate hit protein. A Modification value is recorded for interactions of this type with the possible values Phosphorylation, Ubiquitination, Sumoylation, Dephosphorylation, Methylation, Prenylation, Acetylation, Deubiquitination, Proteolytic Processing, Glucosylation, Nedd(Rub1)ylation, Deacetylation, No Modification, Demethylation.

Regulation of mouse PECAM-1 tyrosine phosphorylation by the Src and Csk families of protein-tyrosine kinases.

Cao MY, Huber M, Beauchemin N, Famiglietti J, Albelda SM, Veillette A

PECAM-1 is an adhesion molecule expressed on hemopoietic and endothelial cells. Recently, it was observed that PECAM-1 becomes tyrosine-phosphorylated in response to a variety of physiological stimuli. Furthermore, tyrosine-phosphorylated PECAM-1 was shown to associate with SHP-2, a Src homology 2 (SH2) domain-containing protein-tyrosine phosphatase expressed ubiquitously. In light of the significance of tyrosine protein phosphorylation as a regulatory mechanism, we ... [more]
