Affinity Capture-Western

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Src-related protein tyrosine kinases are physically associated with the surface antigen CD36 in human dermal microvascular endothelial cells.

Src-related cytoplasmic PTKs are physically and functionally associated with cell surface receptors and are involved in signal transduction. In this paper we report the identification of src-related proteins p59fyn, pp60c-src and p62yes in human microvascular endothelial cells cultured from normal human skin and their physical association with the thrombospondin receptor CD36. Such an association represents a potential signalling pathway by ... [more]
