Affinity Capture-Western

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Hsp90 is an essential regulator of EphA2 receptor stability and signaling: implications for cancer cell migration and metastasis.

Annamalai B, Liu X, Gopal U, Isaacs JS

A subset of Eph receptors and their corresponding ligands are commonly expressed in tumor cells where they mediate biological processes such as cell migration and adhesion, whereas their expression in endothelial cells promotes angiogenesis. In particular, the tumor-specific up-regulation of EphA2 confers properties of increased cellular motility, invasiveness, tumor angiogenesis, and tumor progression, and its overexpression correlates with poor prognosis ...
