RPB7

DNA-directed RNA polymerase II subunit RPB7, B16, L000001681, YDR404C
RNA polymerase II subunit B16; forms dissociable heterodimer with Rpb4p; Rpb4/7 dissociates from RNAPII as Ser2 CTD phosphorylation increases; Rpb4/7 regulates cellular lifespan via mRNA decay process; involved in recruitment of 3'-end processing factors to transcribing RNA polymerase II complex, export of mRNA to cytoplasm under stress conditions; also involved in translation initiation

Guanylyltransferase involved in mRNA 5' capping; subunit of the mRNA capping enzyme, which is a heterotetramer composed of two molecules of Ceg1p and a homodimer of Cet1p, the mRNA 5?-triphosphatase subunit; nuclear import of Ceg1p requires interaction with Cet1p; mammalian capping enzyme is a single bifunctional polypeptide

Affinity Capture-Western

An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

RNA capping enzyme (CE) is recruited specifically to RNA polymerase II (Pol II) transcription sites to facilitate cotranscriptional 5'-capping of pre-mRNA and other Pol II transcripts. The current model to explain this specific recruitment of CE to Pol II as opposed to Pol I and Pol III rests on the interaction between CE and the phosphorylated C-terminal domain (CTD) of ... Mutations/deletions in separate genes, each of which alone causes a minimal phenotype, but when combined in the same cell results in a more severe fitness defect or lethality under a given condition. This term is reserved for high or low throughput studies with scores.
