Affinity Capture-Western
An interaction is inferred when a bait protein is affinity captured from cell extracts by either polyclonal antibody or epitope tag and the associated interaction partner identified by Western blot with a specific polyclonal antibody or second epitope tag. This category is also used if an interacting protein is visualized directly by dye stain or radioactivity. Note that this differs from any co-purification experiment involving affinity capture in that the co-purification experiment involves at least one extra purification step to get rid of potential contaminating proteins.

Protein arginine methyltransferase 1 coactivates NF-kappaB-dependent gene expression synergistically with CARM1 and PARP1.
Nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kappaB) plays an important role in the transcriptional regulation of genes involved in inflammation and cell survival. Transcriptional coactivators that methylate histones become increasingly important. Recently, we provided evidence that coactivator-associated arginine methyltransferase 1 (CARM1) is a transcriptional coactivator of NF-kappaB and functions as a promoter-specific regulator of NF-kappaB recruitment to chromatin. Here, we show that ... [more]
