RRD1
YPA1, peptidylprolyl isomerase RRD1, L000004483, YIL153W
Peptidyl-prolyl cis/trans-isomerase; activator of the phosphotyrosyl phosphatase activity of PP2A; involved in G1 phase progression, microtubule dynamics, bud morphogenesis and DNA repair; required for rapid reduction of Sgs1p levels in response to rapamycin; subunit of the Tap42p-Sit4p-Rrd1p complex; protein increases in abundance and relative distribution to the nucleus increases upon DNA replication stress

HOG1
SSK3, mitogen-activated protein kinase HOG1, L000000797, YLR113W
Mitogen-activated protein kinase involved in osmoregulation; controls global reallocation of RNAPII in osmotic shock; activates CDC28 by stimulating antisense RNA transcription; mediates recruitment/activation of RNAPII at Hot1p-dependent promoters; with Mrc1p defines novel S-phase checkpoint that prevent conflicts between DNA replication and transcription; nuclear form represses pseudohyphal growth; autophosphorylates; protein abundance increases under DNA replication stress

Synthetic Rescue
A genetic interaction is inferred when mutations or deletions of one gene rescues the lethality or growth defect of a strain mutated or deleted for another gene.

Functional analysis of RRD1 (YIL153w) and RRD2 (YPL152w), which encode two putative activators of the phosphotyrosyl phosphatase activity of PP2A in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
In the context of the cooperative project for functional analysis of novel genes uncovered during the systematic sequencing of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae genome, we deleted two paralogous ORFs: YIL153w and YPL152w. Based on the resulting phenotypes, the corresponding genes were named RRD1 and RRD2, respectively. Rrd proteins show significant similarity to the human phosphotyrosyl phosphatase activator (PTPA). Both single mutants, ... [more]
